The Fair Competition Commission has a team of experienced and qualified technical personnel led by the Director General, who is assisted by divisional directors. The following is a short profile of FCC directors:
Director General The Director General is the Chief Executive of the Commission and will be responsible for ensuring that the functions of the Commission are carried out efficiently. He plays an active role in matters of strategy, government relations and public awareness. Specifically he is responsible for the following:
Providing strong leadership in the management of the affairs of FCC against stringent performance targets;

Playing an active role in matters of strategy, government relations and public relations;
2.
Developing proposals for new or amended procedural rules;
3.
Ensuring that the enforcement and advocacy function of the Commission under the Fair Competition Act (FCA) is appropriately resourced and is carried out efficiently;
4.
Ensuring that government agencies and departments consult the Commission on competition matters;
5.
Playing an active role in creating awareness of the Commission and of competition policy in business, government and consumer circles; and
6.
Ensuring prudent financial management of the FCC.
Director of Advocacy The Director of Advocacy reports to the Director General. He/she has the following general responsibilities:
1.
Facilitating and supervise investigation and report on all competition cases that do not fall directly under the FCA or relate to regulated sectors or inquiries required by the Minister;
2.
Providing direction for the awareness enhancement activities of the Commission;
3.
Overall management of the FCC�s Advocacy Division.
Similarly, he/she has the following specific duties:
1.
Make proposals to the Commissioners for competition investigations arising from material sent to the Commission;
2.
Make proposals to the Commissioners for the scope and resourcing of inquiries required by the Minister;
3.
Make proposals to the Commissioners for the scope and resourcing of investigations in regulated sectors proposed by regulatory authorities;
4.
Carry out a supervisory role in respect to investigations initiated under the three headings a., b. and c. above in order to ensure consistency of approach;
5.
Provide reports, including recommendations, to the Commissioners on the result of investigations by staff under the three headings a., b. and c. above;
6.
Provide direction for the Head of Competition Advocacy in terms of the messages to be communicated to business, government and consumers;
7.
Be responsible for ensuring that the staff resources, and in particular the professional staff, or his directorate are allocated most efficiently given the number and nature of the various cases being dealt with by the directorate as a whole;
8.
Be responsible for monitoring the performance of his/her directorate against agreed performance targets;
Director of Compliance The Director of Compliance reports to the Director General. He/she has the following general responsibilities:
1.
Facilitating and supervise investigations, report and take legal action on all competition cases that fall within Part II of the FCA;
2.
Overall management of the FCC�s Compliance Division.
He/she has the following specific duties:
1.
Carrying out a supervisory role in respect to investigations initiated by the Investigations and the Enforcement divisions in order to ensure consistency of approach;
2.
Deciding whether cases that have been considered by the Investigations division are likely to require further action (in which case they are to be passed to the Enforcement division);
3.
Providing reports, including recommendations, to the Commissioners on cases that have been examined by the Enforcement division and for which action is proposed;
4.
Ensuring that the staff resources, and in particular the professional staff, of his/her directorate are allocated most efficiently given the natures of the various cases being dealt with by the directorate as a whole;
5.
Monitoring the performance of his directorate against agreed performance targets.
Director of Consumer Affairs and Administration The Director of Consumer Affairs and Administration reports to the Director General. He/she is responsible for:
1.
Carrying out the Commission�s obligations in respect to consumers and in particular for the programme of consumer education;
2.
Accounts, finance, personnel and other internal administrative functions of the Commission;
3.
Overall management of the FCC�s Consumer Affairs and Administration Division.
Similarly, he/she has the following specific duties:
1.
Ensuring that the Consumer Education division has the appropriate systems and resources to administer the Commission�s obligations under the Act (for example the maintenance of the register for standard form contracts);[
2.
Providing direction for the Head of Consumer Education in terms of the messages to be communicated to the consumers;
3.
Providing policy direction to the Head of Administration on personnel matters and ensuring that the personnel systems used are appropriate ones given the functions and status of the Commission;
4.
Providing policy direction to the Head of Administration on any other matters covered by that division;
5.
Providing policy direction to the Head of Finance on accounting and related matters and ensuring that the financial systems used are appropriate ones given the functions and status of the Commission.
